Quik question IF i somehow got Windows vist for free coug cough. Would that have any effect?
no. your proc isnt the best on the block bud. in fact its middle of road. equivilent to about an e6600. its holding you back. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/athlon64-x2-6000_4.html
there is far more to it than clock speed and cores. id rather not give a processor lesson at the moment, but given the very limited imformation i have, this is what i can deduce. AMD procs are not as good as Intel atm. (Sorry AMD guys but its just the way it is). you will need to move to higher end chip to see better performance. upgrading your videocard may even cause a bottleneck (if you dont already have one) between your CPU and VidCard.

OP it may be a driver issue, or other software issue, but we need much more information to figure that out. what video card drivers are you using? do ALL games run crappy? what are your temps like?

ill need you to answer all the questions. as far as suggesting a better proc, ill pass that to someone more knowledgable than me when it comes down to AMD procs. i dont do much more than keep up with the news on them.
how should i get my temps? i used to have some nvidia program but idk what it was called
if you are familar with it, you can just use NVIDIA System Tools 6.02 to get them. post your temps while idle and under full load of your most demanding game

so what the fudge is?
bump
Has it always done this? How old is this build? Your running latest video drivers? Also what resolution are you running?
