I've heard somewhere (System wars) that the gpu inside the playstation 3 is equivelent to a 7800GTX. is this true? also, what are the other console's equivelents? And how many gigahertz is the ps3 cell processor? cuz no matter where i look it never says. What are the GPUS inside the 360, ps3 an ...

So in other words you cant really compare them because it vaires from games to game (example wii games all look terrible,,,,but mario galaxy looks f****** amazing!) Yeah, PS3's GPU is a tweaked G70, 360 has a hybrid R580/R600 and I believe the Wii's GPU really can't be compared to anything, it came from a partnership of ATi, IBM and Nintendo, I mean come on it even has an ARM CPU in it.The Cell runs at an unknwon speed but should be around 3.2ghz.
I've heard somewhere (System wars) that the gpu inside the playstation 3 is equivelent to a 7800GTX. is this true?
Very similar, so yes.
also, what are the other console's equivelents?
we could say that in performance they do around these gpu's: 360 = x1900xtwii = hd2400xt
And how many gigahertz is the ps3 cell processor? cuz no matter where i look it never says.
IIRC the cell was running at 3.2ghz.
Didn't they slow the Cell down to 2.8? Also it only uses 6 SPEs for games. Just google articles about the hardware.
I remember when they first demoed the PS3 and said it was the same as two 6800 Ultras. This coming from Nvidia who helped design it.

they said its better then 2x 6800 ultras ps3 has 8 cell cpu only 7 are used for games and 1 for the os and the gpu is a 7800gtx 256mb slightly tuned downxbox 360 has a ibm tri-core cpu @ 3.2ghz and has a x1900xt moded with 10mb embeded d-ram for aa
6 for games and 1 for the OS, they went with 7 because yields were poor back then for the chip.
The cell isn't really like a typical cpu at all though, they said it was running at about 3.2 gigs but what that really means considering the unique architecture is hard to say.
Yup, and i'm sure it was slowed down in the final PS3, plus the 360 CPU is ''in-order'' so it's weaker than a regular out-of-order CPU in PCs today.

Basically compared to the newer cards like the ati 4000/3000series and the GTX280/260 and 9000series they are nothing :)
but they get much better performance out of the equipment but even now that is nto enough to keep them ahead of the latest PC graphics cards

also its not a FULL CPU according to microsoft they said it ages ago they took some bits out or something so i guess its more like a full 2ghz tri core
