CPU Overclocking Issue

I am trying to overclock my E7200. At stock its 2.53 ghz and i overclocked it to 2.75 ghz to start. It all read good in my Bios then in CPU-Z it said i was only at 1.75 ghz........help?CPU Overclocking Issue
its strange now....in CPU-Z my multiplier keeps going from 7.5 to 6.0......how do i fix it?CPU Overclocking Issue
Disable speedstep! (in the BIOS)
yeah i just did that and was coming back to say it worked. What is a great CPU temp monitoring program?

RealTemp, FTW
As above, use Real Temp for 45nm CPU's.My CPU overclocked on stock cooling from 2.5Ghz to 3.2Ghz @ 1.25v idles at 33 in Real temps on both cores.Everest reports the CPU temp at 37, and the core temps at 38. Anything under 40 is pretty good!
well i ocd to 2.66 and in realtemp it says i was at 45 C so idk
What voltage you at? What case fans do you have?
Either one is a good program. I just like how real temp shows the max temp on the cores. Make sure to set the TJmax to 100 for a 45nm dual.

im using an Antec 900 with 5 case fans, all at high and my voltage is 1.168v
Your temps should be lower than mine then... Strange... Have you secured the heatsink/cooler correctly?
yeah and put a fresh application of Arctic Silver on
yeah and put a fresh application of Arctic Silver on
did you follow a guide on how much to apply?
ok i reduced the clock back to 2.5 and my idle temps went from 38 C to 41 C an increase. Wtf?
I use PC Wizard
do i look at my core temps or my processor temperature. my cores are at 40 C and my processor temp is 32 C
i pulled it up to 3 ghz for shi** and giggles and my idle temps are the same....testing with CoreTemp and Orthos now at 59 C
You cant trust idle temps. Core0 on my e8400 never shows below 35c. I have a stuck sensor, but its fine at load temps which are what really matters anyways.
