I've got all bloatware that i know is useless removed, and everything is scanned and clean.
All updates are complete.
The laptop has:
GeForce 9500gs mobility
2.0ghz intel core 2 centrino
4gb ram
Vista home premium 64bit.
Problems are along the lines of in CoD4 the framerate is very jumpy. I can have 80 frames on recommended settings, i'll lower it and the frames will remain fine, however, after a few minutes, the game will jump, the frames will become low, between 20 to 30. Half Life 2 Episode 2 is having problems, but ep1 and the original game is fine. TF2 runs great and so does css. I don't like how erratic and unpredictable COD4 is though. I don't know how to fix it. Also i do idle at a higher cpu percentage than it should. Any ideas to help me out?Laptop Performance Issue

a 9500m gs is not cut out for COD 4, try lowering down the settings
9500M GS is good enough for COD4. Have you got the latest drivers installed? Have you got COD4 patched? I don't know but could it be something to do with 64-bit OS.
See, i was thinking something with the 64 bit version of Vista Home, which is why i asked here. I have all drivers, I'm an IT Tech/Web Designer (doing an apprenticeship program), but i just know very little about vista or laptops at this point since i don't spend a whole lot of time around them. COD4 auto patches since it's on Steam, but I manually patch it too. I don't know if there is something i can do (except severe overclocking which would overheat this computer) And to answer the other question, no i don't have this laptop running hot, it's actually quite cool all the time. I let it sit on my lap with PJ pants on, which are thin, and my lap is pretty cool.
