I am thinking about an E8400 + 9600GT? Suggestions? Is the 1gb version of the card any better than the 512mb version for gaming. GPU and CPU for 1280x1024 gaming
I am thinking about an E8400 + 9600GT? Suggestions? Is the 1gb version of the card any better than the 512mb version for gaming.
The 1GB version will only give you very slight increases in performace if you play at very high resolution. Either way the 4850 is a great budget card...look into it! GPU and CPU for 1280x1024 gaming
i would look at a 4850 especially the sapphire dual slot cooled one as its cheaper than stock, cooler, more overclockable, quiter and actually smaller :P
At 12x10 the extra 512MB of VRAM isn't worth it, and won't be worth it until long after the 9600GT is obsolete. The 9600GT is a great card, but you might be able to get a 9800GT for only a little more, and that would be worth the upgrade.
ive read a couple of reviews and they have benchmarks saying that the 1gb is worse on 12x10 then the 512mb
Isn't an HD4580 more power than I need for playing at 1280x1024? I thought you needed that for playing at 1680x1050... I was hoping to save on this build... I'm looking forward to playing mmo's mainly... I would also like to be able to play a few other titles like Fallout 3 and Dragon Age Origins, but playing them on medium is ok for me... I know the 4850 is an excellent card for it's price, but I can get the 9600 for half that price...

8800GT for that resolution and keep it at stock speed.
