I've got a X-Fi Xtreme gamer and for the past day or so I've been having some trouble.I had a W/C leak a few days ago over my GFX card and my soundcard. It was a pretty big leak since I didn't notice it for a while. My GFX is completely fine and I noticed it when my sound cut out to a loud constant beep, I opened my case up, pulled it out, cleaned it out, cleaned out the PCI slot and then it ran fine. That was about two weeks ago, every now and then I get it so that the sound card isn't detected and after I reboot it's fine. Problem is now, it just will not pick it up.I've tried all my PCI slots and no go.On to what the problem is now. Today I realised my sound had cut so I restarted and re-seated my card. After that I got no video output. After taking out my soundcard it worked, so I reseated it and it worked again and it detected it. But my overclock had reset and when I plugged in my speakers/headset (they were unplugged from the re-seating) it froze. So I restarted and now it won't detect it again. Turned my OC back on and still, it won't detect it.Is my soundcard fried from the leak? I'm using fezer one fluid and it's definatly non conductive since otherwise my GFX would be screwed. I've still got some blue stuff left on the back of the soundcard though, since it sorta foamed and it won't come off. Looks a little just like staining. Sound card error.
First thing to do is clear the cmos, with power off for about 30 secs, then try again.Do you have any other PCI cards you can try, like NIC, sound card anything PCI, maybe you have damaged the whole PCI bus...?Do yo uhave onboard sound as well are you sure it's disabled in the Bios as this would cause the problems your talking about...Other than that you really need to try another sound card..Sound card error.
I tried the card in my other two PCI card slots so I don't think it's the slot. Well unless all my other three are broke. Fluid only got into the bottom one though. Onboard was already turned off/disabled whatever since I've been using this S/C for a good month or so. At the moment thugh I've flicked back to onboard. Didn't need to change any drivers which was strange. Just flick all my stuff from X-Fi to realaudio.Looks like I might have fried the soundcard >.>.
