performance issues..help......!!!

hello .... i have a pentium d 820 ( 2.8ghz ) ... what kind of games can i play? i have been playing oblivion and it gives me around 15-25fps even on low settings so does bf2 ... i got 2gb of ram n a 8600gt oc so it shouldnt run that bad . plus i got an atx-molex pin port in my motherboard saying its for extra power if the gfx card needs it . i havent pluged anything to it stil though so still confuse if its my cpu , 8600gt or the power is causing the prob.i still remember playing bf on a 3.0ht ,1gb ram n a 6200tc on mid settings n now straight away to low ? whoa.thanks.performance issues..help......!!!

no doesnt help .. now my gpu temps jumped to 53C from 46C idle. a wired sound comes from my cpu too when its in use .
The 8600GT doesn't need it's own power cable?Run a benchmark like pc mark 2006 and see what score you get, maybe you need to update your drivers, yup BF2 should run good on that system...........Maybe your graphics aren't set to run at 16x PCI-E, try both CPU-Z and GPU-Z and make sure it's all right there....
8600gt doesn't need extra power. Its also not a very powerful card. What resolution are you playing in?
yes 8600gt doesnt need any extra power... i think its my cpu thats causing the problem .. my idle temp is 60-65C n 70-78C full load . thats very much hot and im being told to use some thermal paste on the heatsink but stil dont know if its gonna help or no cause i know pentium D's r known for thier hotness. so is this causing my games to run slow ? i run bf2 @ 1024x768 @ high settings or medium or even 800x600 high or medium ITS SLOW.. 18-24fps
Have you had this computer for a while or just build it? Are you just now noticing increases in CPU temp?
just built it .. had everything in boxed but never built it so now im running everything
make sure the g-card is running at it's right speed i.e 16x or 2.0x
The g card is definitely not the problem. Its got to be your processor thats bottlenecking you because I had an 8500gt for a while and with a phenom quad oblivion an on high very well.
