need suggestions on video cards

I currently own an xfx 8800GT and I'm not sure if I should just get another for SLI or purchase either the ati 4850 or 4870. I have a 20 inch monitor, I wanna be able to play games at 1600x1200 with high settings with playable frames...games such as crysis, far cry 2...u get the idea. I'm not sure if SLI is overkill or if a single 4870 is enough. any ideas?need suggestions on video cards
Well a 4850 isnt all much better than the 8800GT so thats a waste. Also Crysis performs better with nvidia cards then ATI in the same ballpark, and Crysis isnt the best opminized ethier. Now With Farcry 2 You shouldnt have any issues running it on high (without AA). What are your specs?need suggestions on video cards

Well I have heard far too many complain about issues with their current gen ati cards for me to trust them. Plus they run HOT which just worries me. I would go with a GTX260 or something like that or maybe dual 9800gtx which would be like 300-400$. Dual 8800gt wouldn't be enough for the settings your looking for. I'd get like a gtx280 or dual 9800gtx

I bought NVIDIA because I haven't had much luck hooking my computer and TV up with the ATI software - also the GTX 260 is pretty bloody close to the 4870 and the same price

I made this build in sept of 2006 and at the time i was using the 7600gt. I planned on going SLI with that but then a year later the 8800gt came out and got that instead..I could upgrade my cpu with another AMD, but lately ive been thinking of bitting the bullet and going over to intel. I'm thinking about doing that maybe around the christmas.
get the gtx 260 core 216 , its really an amazing card and is better than the 4870 , i'll get mine next month
